When “Mina” was 18, she finished her schooling in South Asia and was looking forward to the opportunity to study further. She came from a very poor family, so she was not sure what would be possible. One day, an extended family member offered “Mina” and her two younger sisters to come live in a neighboring city with more opportunity. The sisters were excited to go. This extended family member ran a hotel in the city. Soon after arriving, the three sisters were forced into sexual slavery. They were forced to sell themselves 10-20 times a day. Our partner’s undercover team received a tip about these girls and went to investigate. In conjunction with local law enforcement, one perpetrator was arrested and another is under investigation. They also rescued these girls from the hotel. Mina and her sisters are now receiving aftercare services including counseling, food, and medical support, funded and supported by O.U.R. at one of our partner aftercare homes.
