❌ Child sex trafficking refers to the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a minor for the purpose of a commercial sex act. (justice.gov) ❌ Pimps and traffickers sexually exploit children through street prostitution, and in adult night clubs, illegal brothels, sex parties, motel rooms, hotel rooms, and other locations throughout the United States. (justice.gov) 🏫 When children are trafficked, their trafficker may keep them in their regular routine of attending school and going home at night. In other situations, these kids completely miss out on receiving an education altogether. Rachel (name changed) was trafficked here in the U.S. when she was 14 years old by a man that she believed to be her boyfriend. Under the impression that he loved her, she was excited when he suggested that they plan a vacation together. When they arrived in a nearby state, the “boyfriend” immediately turned on her. He demanded that she work the streets in order to pay for her portion of the vacation. Luckily, an undercover police officer identified Rachel and helped her out of her situation. She was traumatized from being trafficked and faced many challenges, including her mental health, dealing with her dysfunctional family, and financial issues. Currently, O.U.R. Aftercare is providing support and consultation to Rachel’s team who is helping her improve her mental health and helping her recover from addiction.
