4 survivors flew safely home! These amazing women couldn’t wait to see their families again and be home for the holidays. They told us that they were dancing with joy as they got off the plane! These women were trafficked out of West Africa by false employment agencies, who took their passports and exploited them repeatedly upon arrival to the Middle East. After bravely escaping, they were put in prison because their traffickers had taken their passports, so they had no official documents with them. Thanks to our supporters, we were able to support these women in their journeys home. The O.U.R. Aftercare Team helped negotiate their release from prison and paid for their required COVID tests so they could prepare to fly home and see their families. We are very grateful for aftercare collaboration. We have been able to start a new program in West Africa with in-country experts to provide holistic aftercare services for survivors. These brave women have had a difficult journey. They were completely deceived, having no idea that exploitation and abuse awaited them when they landed in the Middle East. These survivors are warriors. We are so grateful to know them and be a part of their journey. They are incredibly strong and we are inspired by their hope and light.
