K9 Chewie has been out assisting law enforcement and The Riverside County Child Exploitation Team (RCCET) left and right! Look at all the incredible work he has been doing.⁠ ⁠ In Moreno Valley, K9 Chewie assisted RCCET on an operation in a neighborhood where an undercover RCCET investigator posing as a child communicated with a local online predator who was trying to exploit children. When the offender arrived to meet with the "child," the police were there instead. ⁠ ⁠ RCCET along with a local anti-human trafficking task force arrested another online predator who had rented out a hotel room to sexually exploit children. K9 Chewie helped sniff out and locate electronic storage devices inside the offender's car that otherwise may have been missed! ⁠ K9 Chewie also helped immensely in the arrest of a previously convicted sex offender in a similar online case. An undercover RCCET investigator communicated with the online offender, posing as a child. Once the offender explicitly stated his intention of sexual exploitation, the police stepped in and arrested him. ⁠ ⁠ We are so grateful that O.U.R.-sponsored K9 Chewie was such a big help to RCCET, which is a multi-agency task force led by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. It has brought knowledge, communication, and financial opportunities like never before. But there are dangers as well, mainly to young children. ⁠ ⁠ Social media has made it easier for predators to connect with children and gain their trust with the goal of sexually exploiting them. ⁠ ⁠ So how can you keep them safe? ⁠ ⁠ 1.) Educate your children about the dangers on the internet. ⁠ ⁠ 2.) Make sure they know their rights, including that a child under eighteen is unable to give consent for sexual activity. ⁠ ⁠ 3.) Maintain trust with your child which comes from open, calm, and non-judgemental conversations.

K9 Spike helped on the search warrant of a major case in Pennsylvania!⁠ ⁠ Detectives from the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office arrested an adult male after he admitted to sending explicit images and text messages to a young girl. ⁠ ⁠ The 45-year-old male, Richard Bonk, had been turned over to the police after a grandmother had found explicit images on her 11-year-old granddaughter's phone, who she believed were sent from him.⁠ ⁠ O.U.R.-sponsored K9 Spike assisted law enforcement in conducting a search warrant at the offender's residence and he was charged with felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communications facility, and a misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors. ⁠ ⁠ Thank you to our K9 Spike and all of the incredible officers that assisted on this case!

In April, a partnering aftercare center in Southeast Asia helped rescue a survivor who had been forced into the darkness of child marriage.⁠ ⁠ “Taleigh” was unwillingly forced into child marriage by her family in her early teen years. She was involuntarily removed from school, like many of the other children in her village, so she took it as her fate that child marriage was going to be her reality. A year later, Taleigh gave birth to a child, and because of her young age, she faced life-threatening circumstances in the process. ⁠ ⁠ Taleigh experienced an extreme amount of hardship in the forced marriage, not only in dealing with her abusive husband but also the responsibility of taking care of a young child, when she was still a child herself. One day, a man approached Taleigh in her village, and he lured her to run away with him with the promise that he would provide for her and alleviate the stress of her current reality. In an instance of extreme vulnerability, Taleigh left her family and escaped with this new man.⁠ ⁠ The two of them fled to a hotel together and began living there. Unfortunately, this was not the reality that Taleigh was promised, and the situation became extremely volatile, quickly. The man began to leave the hotel frequently, leaving Taleigh locked up for hours on end. ⁠ ⁠ A hotel staff member began to recognize what was happening and immediately reached out to an individual at our partnering aftercare home for help. With the assistance of local police, Taleigh was rescued out of the hotel and placed into aftercare. Local law enforcement is still looking for the man who has fled the area. ⁠ ⁠ Taleigh is now safe and receiving aftercare and beginning her healing process. She is being provided shelter, food, clothes, medical and psychosocial counseling support. Her family has been contacted, to see if reintegration with them is possible at this time. ⁠

Ops team has been supporting local Thai law enforcement in multiple operations, and we are excited to share these updates with you.⁠ ⁠ The two pictures above feature the arrests during Operation MikMik and Operation Gaga. ⁠ ⁠ OPERATION MIKMIK: O.U.R. assisted the Thai Police’s Department of Special Investigation in arresting an Israeli man for possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) found on his computer. The man was arrested in a Thailand hotel room, for human trafficking related offenses, after the Israeli Embassy requested an investigation. The offender was sent to a local police station for legal proceedings. ⁠ ⁠ OPERATION GAGA: An adult Thai male was arrested by the Royal Thai Police Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division, for posting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to his Twitter account. Upon the arrest, a cellular phone was seized, and the ATPD requested O.U.R.’s Ops team to forensically process the device. Although the suspect said he deleted all evidence, O.U.R.’s digital forensic analysts recovered the CSAM material.⁠ ⁠ Following the full forensic examination and the ATPD’s interview of the target, it was determined that multiple criminal charges related to child sexual assault and CSAM production/distribution would be filed. The ATPD is working on identifying and contacting all survivors involved. ⁠ ⁠ See our link in profile to read about the other four operations. ⁠
